Vaccination Services at James St Medical Northbridge

At James St Medical Northbridge, we are committed to providing comprehensive vaccination services for individuals of all ages, from newborns to seniors, including pregnant women and those with chronic health conditions. Our goal is to ensure that you and your loved ones are protected against preventable diseases through timely immunization.

Immunization for All Life Stages

– Newborns and Children: Immunization is crucial from birth to safeguard children against serious diseases. We follow the National Immunisation Program Schedule, which includes vaccinations at 6 weeks, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, and 4 years. Our GPs and nurses are dedicated to ensuring that your child receives all necessary immunizations, including catch-up vaccines and school program vaccinations. Please bring your child’s purple book to appointments

Pregnant Women:

– Before Pregnancy: It’s essential to check your immunity against rubella and varicella (chickenpox) before conception. If you are not immune, the government provides the vaccine free of charge. Please wait at least 4 weeks after vaccination before trying to conceive.

– During Pregnancy: The influenza vaccine is recommended at any stage of pregnancy to protect both mother and baby, as pregnant women are at higher risk for severe influenza. The whooping cough vaccine is recommended between 20 and 32 weeks of pregnancy, allowing antibodies to pass to the baby for protection until they receive their first immunizations.

In Australia, pregnant women are eligible to receive a free RSV vaccine to safeguard their babies against severe RSV disease. The recommended vaccine is administered to women between 28 and 36 weeks of gestation. This vaccination enables the mother’s body to produce antibodies that transfer across the placenta to the baby, offering protection from birth for approximately six months.

Seniors and Those with Chronic Health Conditions:

We provide seasonal influenza, pneumococcal and shingles vaccinations, which are fully funded by the Australian government for seniors, pregnant women, and individuals with long-term medical conditions. Our team will handle all correspondence with Medicare on your behalf.

Routine Immunizations

We offer a full range of routine vaccinations for infants, children, adults, and seniors, including:

– Childhood Immunizations: Following the National Immunisation Program Schedule, we ensure timely vaccinations to protect against diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, and more. We also provide catch-up vaccinations for those who may have missed their scheduled immunizations.

– Booster Vaccinations: To maintain ongoing protection against certain diseases, we offer booster vaccinations as recommended by Australian health authorities.
